The Turkish government is also hoping to take the shine off Islam by 
providing more aid to the refugees than all the other Islamic countries 
combined.  They've been criticizing Saudi Arabia et al. for failing to come 
through.  The biggest fear of the secular Turkish establishment (the army and 
its tame politicos) is the political power of Islam.
