this would imply that they were essentially one and the same thing.  martin
mcguinness is on the army council of the ira, adams represented the ira
when a high-level sinn fein delegation met the british pm in the early
seventies.  their records of involvement (as leaders) in west belfast and
so-called Free Derry are well known.

i share your doubt that combat 18 were involved in the Brixton bombing.  it
just doesn't strike me as something they'd do.  sure, they're great at
football hooliganism and beatings etc. but planting a bomb in brixton seems
slightly different from their run-of-the-mill fascism.
