Ah, ta-ta. I was responding to a post about creating a "radioactive wasteland" in the balkans. If you din't post those wirdz, someone did. Brian introduced the toxicity debate. None of this stuff is as toxic as the lead poisoning a lot of ethnic albanians are getting from being 'cleansed," though. Plus, when you run the numbers even the regular toxicity of DU is nothing to compare with all of the crap that's poured out of the non-enviromentally friendly Romanian and Yugoslavian chemical plants over the last 50 years. The burning of the chemical refineries will cause more damage than DU, but there are big parts of the place in the plume of those plants that were already Seriously Unhealthy. You can't just take all of these things out of context and say "That ONE" is a porblem. The war isn't helping, by any means, but this was not some prisitine, virgin wilderness. I'll post this little DU thing someone sent me from the U$ DoD this evening when I'm home and can retrieve it. Yes, it's DoD, but it is a source for the advocates of anti-DU too. carpo
