Can I just say that sane Britons are far more nervous of the Xtian 
evangelists and sects, and, therefore, are more nervous of Americans 
and other God-botherers.

Xenophobic  Brits follow a policy of equal opportunity hatred of 
everyone. Moslems and Jews shade it from time to time because of  the
animal rights Right and Halal, Kosher food. But French, Germans, 
Hindus, Japanese, Carib., African, any nation/ethnic group/religion 
especially if  we're playing football against them....draw 'em to our 
attention and we'll be nervous of them.

Can I also say that the Islamic idea of fatwas against unreadable 
writers is a great and positive move which all thinking people should 
applaud. Think of the grief saved if we could have wiped out 
Faulkner, Trollope, any Bronte, Woolf, Hardy, that bloke wot wrote 
I'm Kamp,  Jackie Collins etc etc
