Earlier this week I posted about how the vice-premier of Serbia had made a speech whereupon he called on the Yugoslavian government to start "telling the truth" to the serb people about the causes of the war with NATO and also for the leadership to tell the people that NATO was not fracturing itself over the conduct of the war as the state claimed. Then I said no one had heard from the vice premier since then. Well, now the guy is back in the news. Why? Milosevic fired him for making the speech. Also of note is an interview that ABC had with a 20ish Serb womyn on Friday who had lost her home Thursday night to an errant NATO bomb. The womyn was very angry that her home had been destroyed and said she knew exactly who was responsible, "Milosevic," because of the irresponsible purge of Albanians out of Kosovo. Not NATO, she said, but "Milosevic" and his policies, and she quite frankly, didn't care if the camera was on her or not. She said everyone else who lost their homes felt the same way about the responsibility but they were afraid to talk about it in public. The ABC announcer called the womyn's frankness "dramatic" and "rare." I'd have to say she was by far the bravest thing I've seen come out of the war. And she wasn't asking for an apology. carp
