I have a real problem with anybody endorsing violence like the kind that went on at Columbine. Sure I can identify with the alienation of those kids. My high school years were absolute hell, I got abuse hurled at me everyday, butI didn't turn to a weapon to solve my problems. It was awfully tempting sometimes but I found out the hard way that when a jock beats someone up it's a case of 'boys will be boys' but when me or any of my geeky friends hit back we had 'behavioural problems'. Eventually I just got the fuck out of there and joined my local community college, which was run in far less of an authoritarian manner. I found to my pleasant suprise that without all that forced uniformity people actually got on better. Sure kids still formed their little social circles but it didn't seem to have the same bitter edge of elitism about it. I could only ever endorse violence as self defense. If someone attacks you physically then you have the right to hit back. I got into a nasty situation last year. Some goon was trying to interfere with an unconscious drunk girl at a party and I tried to stop him. I required six stitches in my head after he bashed me repeatedly with a large piece of wood. We must find an alternative to guns and bombs in a society that is run by arms dealers and military madmen. Lorax.
