Now you come to mention it, many years ago when back-packing around 
the warmer bits of Europe, I always, where possible, went to American 
banks to cash my cheques just to have a few minutes of 
air-conditioning. How could I have been so naive? Is this the real 
reason why Proudhon's mutualism fell into disuse?
