 I remember loos like that from the good old times in the 50ies and 60ies  
 when my grandparents had a shithouse across the yard which was a wooden  
 construction. I also remember freezing my arse off there in winter and  
 fainting from the stench in summer. Not to forget the times of fun when  
 the "gold bucket" was carried to the garden. Or mentioning the time when  
 it was real fun - when grandad and uncle had difficulties which meant the  
 contents of said bucket were spilled right in front of the backdoor  
 entrance. I learned some interesting new words that day (think I must've  
 been aged 4 or 5 or so)....

Actually Im not as old as you and I can remember people that had them. My 
familly is from rural Alabama and alot of the older people refused to have 
indoor plumbing, tv, etc. Theyre almost all dead, or have converted to 
"Civilization" now though. 

Also how are those eco-toliets good for plant life? Piss has salt in it and 
enough salt will kill plants. Remember from history how the Romans sowed the 
fields of Carthage with salt so they would never pose a threat again?
