Does the SS have any problem with Eskimos too or is this racist campaign limited to just the Makah? Back in the 70s Washington state had a policy of arresting Indians for excercizing their fishing rights, on the grounds that white fishermen needed the fish for commerce. I forget where exactly (Vine Deloria Jr, covers it in his book, God is Red), but Washington game wardens, fishermen and local cops went onto the reservation and beat tribal elders, children and women at one point for protesting for their treaty rights. Not only was it a blatant violation of civil rights and treaties (not that any were ever kept by the government), it was also a violation of BIA and FBI jurisdiction. Though as far as I know no one was ever fined or charged, except the Indians that resisted illegal arrests. This sounds no different really, except for the new faces, with new motives for wanting to destroy our cultures. What gets me is that us Skins used to be classified as wild animals (blacks were animals too, but they were considered draft animals), not human beings. The only reason we were ever allowed the status of human is because we owned unexploited land, and animals cant own property and therefore cant sell it to mining companies, lumber mills, livestock ranchers, farmers, etc. Shouldnt these so-called environmentalists be trying to save us as well, or are we like the lab rat not cute enough to keep around? As for a shotgun, I assume a whales skin is alot thicker than a bears, and shooting a bear with a shotgun at point blank will only piss it off. I somehow doubt that anyone who hunts whales would be stupid enough to try and kill it with a shotgun. I use a 12 gauge Mossenburg to hunt wild turkey, so that should give you some idea at how effective a shotgun would be against a whale. That would be kinda like trying to put down a deer or stopping a mack truck with a .22 rifle. Pert near impossible if you ask me.
