They find that it blocks non-porn sites and fails to block dozens of porn sites, the latter being the primary focus of the software. Passing Porn, Banning the Bible N2H2's Bess in public schools http://censorware.org/reports/bess/ The study points out the Mid-Atlantic Infoshop <www.infoshop.org> anti-censorship pages are being blocked by Bess and thus unavailable to schoolchildren in several states. What's more disturbing is that activist resources, labor resources, and pages devoted to activist teens are all blocked. Also, any student under the age of 18 this Fall won't be able to use the MA Infoshop site to do research on Sacco and Vanzetti or Emma Goldman. The Sacco and Vanzetti site has been cited by the Internet Scout Project as an outstanding source on the social sciences. The Mid-Atlantic Infoshop is against the use of censorware in any context, since its only purpose is to censor another person, most often a kid. Freedom of speech should know no age limits. We will continue our ongoing efforts against censorware, despite the attacks on our free speech rights by censorware companies and the religious right. -- Chuck0 Alternative Press Review http://flag.blackened.net/apr/ Free Leonard Peltier!
