The fact that it was aggressively p&m'ed later does not mean that it wasn't real at first. The fact that most hippies "sold out" proves only that capitalism was stronger than their idealism, not that their idealism was worthless or non-existent. I still think we have a lot to learn from the 60s, especially the mistakes made.
