The four-mile bypass is a major artery taking heavy traffic away from the residential streets of Leyton and Leytonstone in north-east London and restoring a village atmosphere to Wanstead. The social,environmental, safety and economic aspects of the scheme, together with the fact that it is also good news for motorists, are priorities in the Government's transport policy. Lawrie Haynes will cut a ribbon to inaugurate the final stretch of the new road at the Green Man tunnel. You are invited to send a reporter/photographer.
