The Pakistani community over here seem fairly relaxed about the whole business. I listened to the Pak/Indian prog on Spectrum Radio and the local Pak news community seemed to think it wasn't a desperately bad thing when compared to your democratic government. I see Clinton's made some mutterings about democracy being restored and there's the small matter of the next lot of your IMF loans. Are these army guys totally evil bastards or medium evil pragmatists? The gorgeous pouting Benazir was on the news last night, but our own politicians seem to be slow to respond. Andy [worried about three-sixteenth's of my ancestry] Hi Andy, Well, the armee is a change from the police and rangers (para-military) that usually infest our streets. *grin*. Every few years some new idiot throws out the old assholes and anounces that they will do better. Once in a while they are in uniform. It is a way of life here. Pakistan is a prime example showing that a society is not made by the government but by the people. No social contract works in Pakistan because people think that it is something created and maintained by an elite group, the politicians.not realizing that they themselves have to be responsible for it. All of them is evil basturds. Banazir pouting on BBC, the P.M., the armee, bureaucrats. All the neo-colonists who "rule" this beleaguered land. and its the people who put them there. Ali
