The tragedy of Pakistan is that Mr. Jinnah died too early before he could establish a foundation for democracy and stable government while India's PM Nehru lived long enough to build a dynasty that has ruled India for most of its post-independence history and even now an Italian born implant to the dynasty has the potential to restore the same dynasty to power.

I have read a book by S.K. Majumdar, "Jinnah and Gandhi" that shows the depth to which Jinnah believed in secularism and democracy till he was betrayed by the Congress leadership. There was a book published posthumously by Mr. Jinnah's personal secretary which showed how dedicated Jinnah was to the idea of democracy and secularism even at his death bed.

Unfortunately religious fanatics took over the control of Pakistan after his death some of these fanatics was a military dictator. Even Nawaz Sharif owed his power to these religious fanatics to the extent that he even wanted to amend the constitution to establish complete theocracy.

It is sad day for Pakistan if the new military dictator is as fanatic as his predecessor was.
On the other hand if he can restore democracy and secularism, he will achieve what Jinnah failed to do due to his short life span..
