I don't remember who it was who asked, but you can easily go to Seattle for 
under $300.  Don't drive.  That will suck up both money and time.  By taking 
the bus you can sleep most of the trip and get there without having to spend 
the night somewhere on the way.  You can get a round trip Greyhound ticket 
to anywhere in the U$, Vancouver BC, Toronto ON, or Montreal PQ, for jut 
$109 with 21 day advanced purchase.   With the protest being so close to 
Thanksgiving, it may be a little more.  The discount isn't valad between 
Nov. 23-28.  You can check their web site.

The youth hostel in Seattle only charges $16-$18 a night.  It is downtown, 
and public transport is fairly cheap.  Though with all the people converging 
in town, I would reserve a bed now.  They only have about 190 beds.  They
