Dunno if anyone else read it, but I had a laugh. The thing about all this
porn on the Internet brouhaha is that [I'm told] you don't get very far
without a credit card. Shouldn't the religious right be banning them along
with usury and capitalism? These pornographers are only trying to turn an
honest buck.

I also read [Christ ! my font's changed without any prompting from me, just
as a blinding shaft of sunlight hit the screen... could it be a sign?]in our
press that the Harry Potter children's books are beginning to be banned,
because the hero is a wizard and dabbles in non-Xtian practices [like being
loyal to his friends and nasty to bad people].

Can I just recommend these books, in case anyone has been resisting the
hype? They are brilliant at encouraging non-reading kids to. My son who
never opens a book has been working his way through the 3 currently
published - they're cracking stories. Any parents out there who do the book
at bed time bit - buy these. 7-12 years probably.

PS English Xtians are much more laid back, for the most part. We don't
suffer so much from the evangelists and the demeanour is much more tolerant
in your average C of E or Catholic church. Even our fundamentalist Moslems
seem to chill out - probably cricket as the universal language has this
calming effect on us.

Meanwhile I see there's a New York cricket team [mostly ex-Carib rastas I
suspect] touring England now. You should start an anarchist cricket league
and teach it to the fundies. Any game which lasts 5 days and usually ends in
a draw must be good for a success-orientated culture.
