Alright, with a few people discussing the weather again, this was bound to happen: After it had been relatively nice for quite some time, it's fuckin pissing down with rain the third day in a row now! To make matters worse, the rainfalls are mixed with snow and hail, and a few lightnings and thunderbolts every other hour or so. The water is simply standing in the streets, with gutters being blocked by leaves, and I sufficiently got me feet and socks washed twice yesterday (outdoors, that is) because there was no way to get around some of these huge puddles - err: ponds? lakes? oceans? A neighbour slipped on the mix of rain, hail, and snow on the ground and not only nicely bruised her buttocks, but also had to walk home with a thoroughly wetted pair of trousers. As she managed to slip with both feet at the same time, she also skidded across the pavement well enough to hear a few cheers from passers-by and ratings were given in the 9.5 - 9.8 range. What is it again they say about adding insult to injury? A fierce gale also has been building up over the last days which made periods of hail really interesting - it's great to have hail blown into one's face almost vertically at about 100 kms/h and more. Tends to contribute to a literally frozen grin, believe me. Now today after all we managed to get a gale and flood warning here (Hamburg's the largest sea-port in Germany, for the geographically challenged among you). Gale is said to get up to 120 kms/h, with gusts up to 180 kms/h. It was bad enough, anyway, I ruined an umbrella after a walk of about 100 ms when I went - no: flew to do some shopping. With all the rain pouring down, local news reported that the book "Easy Ark-Building" is completely sold out, and you should see the queues outside dyi shops. Those among us of more modest means have turned to check twice per day whether there's any chance we start to grow these skins between our toes which make ducks swim so well. Public transport will sell all buses and acquire boats instead, and city council announced that one must carry a pilote's license in order to be allowed to go out with an umbrella starting tomorrow. Not only humyn lives but also blinds were highly endangered today: at my local greengrocer's, both shop owner and one employee desperately clung to the blinds in front of the shops to prevent it from being blown away. That was a good chance for a nice comment - since the German equivalent for getting fired from one's job is one "flies", I asked the employee whether this was going to happen to him today, and the owner said: yep, if he doesn't watch out, that'll happen any minute now. There's ambulance, police, fire brigade passing by here every 15 minutes or so - we're living at one of the main roads connecting several neighbourhoods. So please, can you do me a favour and stop talking about the weather for a few days? catkawin ## CrossPoint v3.11 ##
