Nah - Brian Derdowski knew what was going to happen. This was right at the end of two full days of gassing, and I thought it was a very nice gesture to try to defuse the situation. He had little to lose - he'd already lost the election last month. There's very few points to be gained from his (soon to be former) constituents. My better half disagrees: she was yelling at him whenever he tried to talk to her! Okay, quick quiz: What's Brian Derdowski's party affiliation? Also negotiating was incoming Councilmember Judy Nicastro. She narrowly won on a platform of renters rights and anti-Sidranization, and now she's calling for SPD Chief Norm Stamper to resign. Very cool from a former UW Student Government type. Nick Licata was nowhere to be seen then, but he's done a lot of legwork both pre and post-WTO. Sidranization: Seattle D.A. Mark Sidran's program of "civility laws" intended to sanitize Seattle's streets for shoppers. Essentially a little Giuliani. I really wish I had studied law at school. Is there any way to be a lawyer without going to law school? I have an itch to put some ants in some of these folkses britches... joshua h
