What I can't understand, and having shown it to liberals, conservatives and Marxists at work is that idiotic essay on the last page by Michael Kinsley. Essentially, he says that free trade is good, but you'd have to study economy for years before you could understand why, but it's good, except when you lose your job, but then it's still good because you can buy cheap sweaters (with what money, he doesn't say). This guy is seriously stupid. I just don't get it, there are some fairly smart people out there who believe whole-heartedly in capitalism and free trade, some of them can even write in conversational English, why didn't Time go to them? It seems like hordes of "self-described" economists have surfaced on internet discussion boards in the last week, and while they're all wrong, for the most part they at least tried to be convincing. I think maybe this Kinsley fellow is really one of us and is intentionally trying to make unfettered-marketers look bad. cheers, Scott --------------------------------------------------------- "No one has yet realized the wealth of sympathy, the kindness and generosity hidden in the soul of a child.
