I was explaining my feeling out of touch fashion-wise to the folks at
the local radical bookstore. Phil, the guy who also writes for Covert
Action Quarterly, got the reference to Romulans, but Brigid, one of the
store co-owners didn't. She confessed that she grew up in a family that
didn't let her watch TV, so many pop culture references are lost on her.

Nice to know that there are still some Americans who are somewhat
untainted by our hegemonic culture.

Did I just say "hegemonic" on a Saturday night?
