Well they tthe powers that be) managed to let people think that going to school is obliged. It isn't. But the children have the right for an education until they are 18 (or 16, i'm not sure). WHich means you can do homeschooling. But there is one thing to keep in mind: there are some requirements to be met at the end of the education. I don't know how this is done. There exists a sort of exam that people can do when f.i. they didn't finish school with a diploma when they were young. It gives the possibility to get a document enabling you to do further studies. Officially there are nation wide (well in fcat they are different for the dutch speaking an dfrenchspeaking part but that's a completely different discussion) requirements to be met, they are called "eindtermen" = end terms and exist for the different levels and grades of school. So in one way or another the system shall control this. Erik
