Subject: Haider info

The following has been published/broadcasted in mainstream German media
recently.

During his political carreer, Haider has repeatedly been caught saying
things in favour or in praise of the Nazi regime. Several papers presented
some of these comments:

1986:
"Being a soldier is being abused and mistreated by certain circles. Many a
gentleman love to clean their shoes at the cost of the honour of those
killed in action during the World War, and of the honour of those
[soldiers] who survived."

1986:
For the farmers - who already got red/black leeches on their necks - this
will mean the beginning of a pauperization."

1987:
"The priviledged position of guestworkers enforces unemployment and
therefore has to be abolished."

1988:
"You know as well as I do that the birth of the Austrian nation was a
miscarriage, an ideological miscarriage."

1990:
"Our soldiers did not commit anything, they were at best victims."

1991:
"... during the Third Reich, they had great employment politics, and this
is something your government in Vienna does not manage to get done. One
simply has to say this for a change."

1991:
"It is insufferable when, in today's Austria, political criminals are
being sponsored like in the former Eastern block."

1995:
On SS-members: "It is very good that there still are decent people in this
world who have got some character, who even during most hard times stick
to their convictions and are true to their convictions up until this very
day."

1999:
"It does not matter whether we get our money stolen by a Romanian
pickpocket or by a red secretary of state."

FPOe pickets for the latest elections in autumn 1999:
"Stop abuse of asylum regulations"
"Against an overflow of foreigners"

The comment on SS members has been on German TV several times during the
last weeks, and this was said while Haider delivered a speech at a
convention of German National Democratic Party NPD. He received ovations
for this remark.

In one of the local papers, I also read that FPOe, despite calling
themselves a liberal party, has been excluded from the union of liberal
parties in the European parliament for their extremist views.

Today, political magazine "Frontal" presented the following info on
Haider:

According to observations by German secret service (Verfassungsschutz),
the far right members of FPOe have formed a network with German Nazis,
especially with NPD, DVU (German People's Union), and Republicans.

Haider himself is interviewed regularly by Nazi media in Germany. In an
interview done for Nazi magazine "Nation Europa" in 1996, he also played
down the crimes of SS and said "they were soldiers like all the others".

On May 18, 1993, he delivered another speech at an NPD convention, in
which he claimed: "A national ideology does not mean one is a Nazi."

The report showed photos of Haider with German Nazis, so e.g. a Herr Kaes
from Republican Party, which are to be found on a website, but did not
mention the URL.

On May 16, 1997, a leading FPOe ideologist delivered a speech in the
Stuttgart federal parliament. He was invited by the Republican faction
represented in this fed. parliament. During his speech, he said that FPOe
wants to build up networks with all the important national parties
throughout Europe, mentioning e.g. Republicans in Germany, Vlaamse Blok
(Flemish Blok) in Belgium.

In 1994, a circle founded within German Liberal Party FDP, the so-called
Cannstatt Circle, invited Haider to one of their conventions. They did not
only invite Haider, but representatives of Republicans, German People's
Party, and National Democratic Party. Short time after this convention,
the Cannstatt Circle broke away from FDP and today is grouped among
rightwing organisation by German secret service. Already during that
convention in 1994, they discussed the foundation of a rightwing platform.

Haider is frequently and regularly interviewed by German Nazi paper (bi-
weekly) "Junge Freiheit" (Young Freedom). Young Freedom regularly carries
articles on "foreigners", especially about crimes committed by persons
holding others than a German passport. They promote the point of view that
all foreign residents should be sent home because that's the only place
they can live contentedly. In January 2000, Haider was interviewed by this
paper again and mouthed ideas about the building of a rightwing party
(successful like FPOe) in Germany.

.....

Haider's resp FPOe's connections to NPD must be seen quite different from
mere contacts with a somewhat obscure party of "leftovers" from 3rd Reich
who will soon die out. NPD youth organisation has established close
contacts into the extremist scene, accepting former members of parties and
organisations which had just been forbidden here and actively seeking to
attract these persons. Many protest marches during the last years
regularly seeing a huge participation from boneheads and what we call
"boot Nazis", i.e. the militant scene, have been organised under the cover
of either NPD youth organisation JN or by their Student's Organisation
(hard to believe intelligence and this goes together, but over here, this
seems to be possible!). Every Nazi party who announced they were going to
attempt to organize the "national scene" and unify it under their aegis,
up to now has failed dramatically. NPD has quietly and apparently quite
successfully attempted to do the same, and their protest marches and
actions attract many persons from parties/groups which are meanwhile
forbidden. Secret services since long suspected that all the different
groups, although seemingly competing with each other and being strict
adversaries, formed an underground network in which they in fact
cooperated quite well. NPD seems to have offered some sort of "umbrella"
for these activities. And this is the scene Haider gladly accepts
invitations from and cooperates with.
..........

Although media again reported in detail about the new Austrian government
today, nothing was mentioned about any agreement between Austrian People's
Party (OeVP) and Freedom Party (FPOe) to ban immigration totally. So I
suppose Paul Whatsisname is FOF (full of feces) - or else he's been taking
part in the coalition negotiations between the two parties, which I am
inclined to doubt very much.
