I was talking about ignorant Americans, not polite friendly Belgians.

We were. I thought you were talking about the first Portugueses that came
here. My mistake. I can only agree with you in that matter, but it wasnt
fascism which was spread here. The concept that Europeans were conquering
the world due to their superiority isnt fascist in its roots. It just
assumes that barbarians (everyone else) havent got to the point of
development that Europe has, and that other cultures are trash and other
languages barriers to be wrecked. But never have I heard that the first
colonizers considered native Americans a disease in the world. They didnt
promote genocide. Of course slavery is condemnable, but the nazi superior
crap wasnt there, or at least thats what I think.

Agreed. But our main problem is of concentration of wealth and land. The
racist undertone comes from slavery (sadly, our country was the last in the
world to abolish it, and we did it because English mercants wanted a
consuimers market here...). It is not, however, the reason why people dont
have acces to land, work or humane conditions of life.

Reading last world news and those about Belgiumīs "side", I realized your
country has strong positions in world politics. This is really good. Maybe
some of it comes from sort of hosting EU, but its great anyway. Belgium
seems to state its view everytime somethin bigs going on. On the other side,
this is a major problem in Brazil. One guy I read recently said that our
deepest problems is "the capacity to never revolt(is this the word?) against
reality".
