Subject: Tyranny Here and There

Hmm. was watching the news a lot this week and the head of the NRA (that
actor guy who was in "Planet of the Apes" spoke at a college. Some
students staged a "die-in" where a bunch of them pretended to be dead with
gunshot wonds. The NRA guy said "Political Correctness is tyranny...
tyranny with politeness". Now, I suppose folks like old goat and carp may
agree with this, but let's think about that. Are they talking about Maoist
politics, where men who beat their wives will be shot (I think a recent
issue of MIM Notes stated this), or are they referring to the basic
argument that disadvantaged people deserve to be treated with dignity and
respect? Doesnt seem like tyranny to me. Also it makes the NRA seem
like a bunch of right-wing yahoos quoting conservative intellectuals. If
they wanted to appeal to a broader range of the population, they might
drop this "PC is tyranny" crap.
