The Romans would often recruit a whole army unit in one part
of the empire, and send it to another part, so this probably means
a whole African unit stationed at Colchester rather than just one
African. There is also evidence of an African unit of the Roman
army being based in the South of Scotland. Roman units could
be based in one place for a very long time, so, as these African
units almost certainly left descendants, that means the "white"
population of England and Scotland (and, by extension, also
the white population of the USA, Australia, etc.) may not
be quite as white as it thinks it is.
