When a fifty eight year old inhabitant of a small
country who takes a very close interest in the public
affairs of that small country, and who has no personal
or political axe to grind in the matter, says he has
never heard of some significant public event alleged
to have taken place in that country during his adult life,
then that is stronger evidence than the uncorroborated
hearsay of somebody who clearly knows
bugger all about that small country.
