In my case, there was lots of reading, but virtually
no note-taking. Anyway, at least as important as
the reading, in fact probably more so, there was lots
of living. There was involvement in many skirmishes
and even a few quite major battles in the class struggle.
Also, there was forming relationships, raising children,
and all sorts of other things.

Fifty eight years

The intensity varied. There were no "sessions"
as such. At least not until I went to university
in my mid fifties. But, by that time, I had already
learned most of what I know now, and that bit
couldn't be counted as "self-education" anyway.
