aren't we just a tad bit old for stereotyping??

i'm a normal, barely-middle-class girl - i go to school, work my ass off,
participate in quite a few activist causes, have worked with habitat for
humanity, etc, etc... in other words, i'm not some rich, yuppie snot who's
never gotten her hands dirty... i *caRe* about the cause, i'm in it for the
people...

and can you guess what i drive? a 1987 BMW.

so let's not be so quick to condemn... what you drive doesn't necessarily
make you an asshole... nothing can be solved with a closed mind.

Yep, when I read that suggestion, I did not feel too happy about it
either: we're driving a 1988 BMW and are feeling quite happy about this,
each for hir own reasons: my man because he feels unsafe in a small car
after the accident two years ago and he wouldn't like to have another leg
injury and all the trouble in re-learning walking again, me because I like
fast cars - especially after one's been driving shoe-boxes on wheels, it's
nice for a change.

I suppose we'll receive absolution because the cars are old, because you
need the car to get to work, because my man is handicapped, so we may
a)pollute the environment driving a car and b) own a plush BMW - but why do
I have to make excuses at all?

precisely... you shouldn't have to... the point of a car is to get you where
you need to go, the best you can... just because my car may have been rather
expensive new doesn't mean i'm a bad person...
