Many groups from around the world are preparing for this event, in recognition that the system of capitalism, based on the exploitation of people, commuities, and the environment for the profit of a few, is the prime cause of our social and ecological troubles. May 1st will offer a perfect symbol and real opportunity to build our struggles against it. All around the world, MAYDAY is a global day of action agianst capitalism. This is part of reclaiming this RED and GREEN day for labor, the environment, and all humanity! BOSTON is one of the world's biggest centers of capitalism - managing as much as $7 TRILLION in capital. For every millionaire here, there are a million who suffer both here and in the rest of the world as a result of Boston-based oppression. WE NEED TO EXPOSE the fraud behind this system, and in Boston we need to focus our resistance on the power structures which perpetuate this global oppression, in the heart of the city's FINANCIAL DISTRICT. As part of this global day of action against capitalism, activists from the greater Boston area are planning a "festival of resistance" in the heart of the city's financial district. Through a combination of protest, street parties and direct action we hope to disrupt "business as usual" and transform Boston's financial district into a carnivalesque celebration against capitalism. PART I - festival: 11:00 a.m., Park St. Station FESTIVE PARADE: 11:45 a.m., from Park St. Station via several "capitalist landmarks" to Post office square PART II - continuing festival at Post Office Square and other places in the Financial District Puppets, Music, dancers, theater, speak-outs, protest, street parties, critical mass bike ride, direct action, civil disobedience, creative disruption, use your imagination.... We encourage people to organize themselves into affinity groups and bring their own forms of direct action and creative disruption to this day of action in Boston's financial district. NO BUSINESS AS USUAL Organized by the Boston Encuentro for Humanity and Against Neoliberalism, and Sabate Anarchist Group. For further information, email: bostonmayday2K-AT-juno.com
