Lemonade and pretzels? Hilarious! What is that supposed to be, a donor mixer
or something?

It's pretty important to heed that suggestion. As a pilot, donating blood
carries with it the rule that I may not fly for forty-eight hours or until
the doctor says I can, which ever is greater.

It's probably somewhat safer for an automobile worker because aviation
requires a different sort of attention, but generally it's healthier and
safer to avoid strenuous labour with a depleted blood supply (probably
especially if you have circulatory problems).
