No - it's me getting my time scales muddled and being a bit hazy on 50s
starlets. I reckon Germaine must've still nicked the phrase and adapted it -
and she definitely used it on some one. 'Fuck-me shoes' incidentally seem to
be white sling-backs or black patents with bits of gold metal at toe and
heel.

Us Brits aren't too good on anthems - not many know the words to God Save
The Queen, and very few realise there's more than one verse. You probably
have to know the words to yours because at major sporting events you have to
have some chanteuse like Whitney Houston warbling into a mike so everyone
hears. We usually used to just have a band at the FA Cup Final and the crowd
sings. Usually half sing 'God Save our Team' with a 10 second time lag, 10%
go for the real 'Queen' version and the rest carry on singing traditional
British Sporting Tunes such 'Stand up if you hate Man U' [Manchester
United - Catkawin's team and universally hated], 'Who's the bastard in the
black?' [at referees], 'Come and have a go if you think you're hard enough'
[at the other team's supporters, Jocks (in the Scottish sense) police, riot
troops etc], 'Does she take it up the **** (*** in U$ spelling)' [directed
at opposing team player's wife especially if Mrs Beckham aka Posh Spice. The
result is a rather pleasing cacophony devoid of any patriotism. The
exception to this is when we're playing the Scots or the Germans, then
everyone sings the anthem.

I thought Country Joe MacDonald did the definitive version of your anthem
or was that some other song.
