Look, my point is simple - spectacular-capitalist economic-social
relations will by definition produce spectacular-capitalist images and
communication. It doesn't take a deep analysis to realize that
everything on television has undercurrents and reflections of the
prevailing system of power. What do you really expect to get out of a
critique of a TV show? A new critical theory? A new praxis? Don't think
so. Sure, I admit you have a point when you say it isn't harmelss. On
second thought, these shows do recreate in a more obvvious manner the
exact opposite type of social relations that we should strive for. It's
not that I don't "see" or don't have a "keen" enough mind to know what
these shows are saying about humanity, it's just that I don't see the
point in going on and on about them. These shows can be entertaining and
unless you watch NO TV listen to NO radio and read NO capitalist
newspapers/magazines then you can point no fingers in self-righteous
indignation. ALL of us know what these shows are designed to do but we
also know what WE can get out of them in terms of more support for OTHER
ways of living.

Finally, what frustrates me is someone who talks down to me and by
extension the list members, and who obviously wants to show off his
eductation by starting some intellectual pissing contest. It's not that
I don't "get it" it's that it's a waste of time to state the obvious
over and over again even if you clothe the argument in the robes of
academia or in the chic street-wear of "I'm more revolutionary and
radical than you".

liberty, justice, equality
