OK, I'm a media masochist, so shoot me. I'm just keeping an ear on the news 'cause I have no working TV right now and I'm wirking away on anarchist projects. About 15 minutes ago, NPR did a strange thing. They went to a correspndent outside the convention hall to get a live update on the protests. There is a live Rage Against the Machine show happening in one of the convention center's parking lot (go figure why the cops are allowing this to happen). The reporter was talking about how the cops are pushing some folks around. In the banter between reporters, they talked about the black bloc that was pretty prominent this afternoon. They also spent some time talking about the protests and mentioned how in 1968 the protesters could protest right outside the convention doors. Apparently, a few of these reporters are 1968 protest veterans, so maybe their conscience is coming back to them. Another possible factor in their coverage of the protests, WHILE broadcasting live from the convention is that outcry NPR may have received for their non-coverage of protests at the Republican Convention. No bad. Four years ago I attended Active Resistance '96, which protested the DNC convention. We've come along way. Chuck0
