Subject: Anarcho domains?
From: Larry Bekich <LBekich-AT-MNSi.Net>

Thought the group of you might be interested in this.

I checked some domain names to see what sort of site hits I might get using
activist-oriented phrases or words. Here's what I found:

using DIRECT ACTION:
--------------------
http://www.directaction.com/ (DigiMedia, a lousy content portal)
http://www.directaction.net/  (domain name registering)

using ACTIVIST:
--------------------
http://www.activist.com/  (free mails)
http://www.activist.org/  (shopping site)
http://www.activist.net/ (possibly a secure site of things "activist")

using ANARCHIST:
--------------------
http://www.anarchist.com/  (a "commercial" anarchist site!)
http://www.anarchist.net/  (--nothing--)
http://www.anarchist.org/  (--nothing--)

using ANARCHISM:
--------------------
http://www.anarchist.ca/  (Canadian anarchist site)
http://www.anarchist.com/  (--nothing--)
http://www.anarchist.net/  (a "self-described" anarcho-capitalist site!)

using BLACK FLAG:
--------------------
http://www.blackflag.net/  (--nothing--)
http://www.blackflag.org/  (--nothing--)
http://www.blackflag.com/ (Clorox Corp's Black Flag bug killer)

What did this little exercise prove? Well it surprised me that the words
"Direct Action" and "Activist" have been appropriated by commercial
concerns, and that there is a commercial anarchist site in existence.

I also found it odd that Clorox's Black Flag site (blackflag.com) appears to
have been dormant for sometime. Are they cybersquatting? Let's get after
them!
