MARCH ACROSS AMERICA.

Pro-democracy affinity groups and individuals are reassembling throughout
Philadelphia, North America and the world for a March Across America to
protest and challenge D2K (that other Republicratic convention).

The strategy of our march - a week-long drive - is to demonstrate solidarity
with all workers on strike=85 solidarity with labor unions=85 solidarity with the
elderly=85 solidarity with the youth=85 solidarity with African Americans, Native
Americans, middle-class Americans, impoverished Americans... solidarity with
the majority of Americans and citizens of Earth who feel unrepresented by the
transnational corporate state.

Unifying with strikers and other Americans along the way, we'll march on Los
Angeles and crash the other Republicratic party with tens of thousands of
people who are fed up with being fed up!

=93The question is not whether we will be extremists, but what kind of
extremists we will be.=94 - Martin Luther King, Jr.

GLOBALIZE DEMOCRACY
NOT
CORPORATE POWER.

As we march across America to Los Angeles, we're stopping and supporting
striking workers along the way. Bring your puppets! Bring your minds! Bring
your energy and creativity (and perhaps some gasoline, unless your vehicle is
solar- or human-powered).

Our day of departure from Philadelphia is yet to be determined. Our route is
yet to be determined. This march will be a creative, nonviolent direct action
in the spirit of Emma Goldman, Mahatmas Gandhi, Martin Luther King, Petra
Kelly. If you'd like to participate, please attend our next gatherings outside
the AFSC:

Nader Challenges Gore, Bush to Take Stand on Taft-Hartley

WASHINGTON, DC, July 28 - Ralph Nader, the Green Party candidate for
President, today challenged Vice President Albert Gore Jr. and Texas Governor
George W. Bush to express their views on repealing the anti-labor Taft-Hartley
Act. Nader has urged the repeal of the 53-year old Taft-Hartley Act as a major
initiative of his campaign. He asked Gore and Bush:

=93Do you support the repeal of the Taft-Hartley Act? If you do not favor
outright repeal, are there any provisions of the Act which you would recommend
for repeal?=94

=93I want to emphasize the critical need to repeal the Taft-Hartley Act which
remains on the books as a disgraceful monument to the power and anti-labor
antagonism of corporations in the United States,=94 Nader wrote the Democratic
and Republican candidates. =93No candidate for President should be allowed to
escape a clear statement of where they stand for or against repeal of the Act
- this is something that should not be hidden behind vague statements in party
platforms.=94
