Come to think of it, that explains everything. It was
the Marquis of Queensbury who invented the boxing
rules, but having done that was forced to confront the
hideous truth that the his son Lord Alfred Douglas
[aka Bosie]was a practitioner of one of the more
limp-wristed versions of the manly arts [with Oscar
Wilde in the ring with him], thus setting a trend for
British boxers to swoon onto the canvas at the merest
sight of the well-muscled American chappies.
