Mike, are you familiar with Hilare Belloc? I have just read "The Servile State" and am wondering how/if it has impressed others. I'm afraid I ain't much of a theoretician and find all of this back and forth arguing somewhat disorienting -- being a bit more of a pragmatist meself.
