From: "Daniel Marley" <bixmarley-AT-hotmail.com> Subject: Revolution - poem needed Date: Fri, 25 May 2001 06:19:05 +1100 Hi folks I got myself into a discussion with an old, right-wing, very convincing professor at the university. He calls the 1964´s military coup (our "not-so-homemade-coup", thanx to American pals) a revolution, whenever he refers to it during classes. I asked him why. He said that´s the way he learned to call it, and that "most of the people supported it", a blatant lie. This response´s been given during class-time. Now Im writing a text about the definitions of "coup" and "revolution", using authors he cannot ignore, like Norberto Bobbio, Hannah Arendt and a Brazilian theoric called Florestan Fernandes. Im also adding Hobsbawn´s concept, even though, as a marxist, he´ll be ignored by the so-called "teacher". The text is coming out pretty good, but I must choose carefully the persons I quote, in order to destroy his arguments in his own terms. Also, other studants who read the text won´t put it away for "being about politics" as some arseholes do. As an open discordance with a professor, I believe it will cause some impact. Following this restrictions, I need urgently a short poem about revolution(s), to flavor the introduction. Ive been having a tough time searching for it, unsuccessfully. The text is a bit big, so the poem would fill some space more sparcely (is that the word?), helping lazy readers start it. If noone helps me and I dont find anything, the text will still be fine, but not as good as planned. Once again, I remember you that the author must be famous and palatable to rightists. I hope this doesn´t sound as bad as I feel it, but the reason is a good, strategic one: its easier to get into people´s mind discreetly than not. Hope to hear from ye Daniel _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
