From: "Ebola 3" <andylists-AT-hotmail.com> Subject: anarchy: problems and answers Date: Sat, 30 Jun 2001 20:23:04 -0000 Here are a few problems that society would have under anarchy, and answers I came up with...I need your input. 1. If demand exceeds supply and vice versa in certain areas, how does one get the workers to change jobs? Hmmm...I would propose that material rewards would be used to lure workers to change industries. Also, one's line of work in anarchist society would be inherently more fluid than under capitalism 2. Who does the shit work? Again, material rewards may be used. Additionally, there could be novel solutions. Imagine if everyone spent one hour per week just cleaning up public areas? 3. Will demand in an anarcho-communist society skyrocket? This is a toughie. As I see it, with citizens as they currently are (I know this is sorta faulty reasoning. An anarchist society will be composed of anarchists.), the answer is yes. We are programmed. Our culture is one of consumerism. Hell, I like stuff...in excess!! The solution...Well, In time, living under anarchism, the values of the populace will shift away from consumerism because emphasis on material subsistence will be removed. An additional solution? Social control. I anticipate that the glutton will be looked down upon by and perhaps even shunned by his peers. This shunning would be very convincing since man is a fundementally social animal. It should be noted that capitalism's solutions to the three above problems are hardly satisfactory. Your input is needed!!
