'Captain' Watson is full of shit. He claims that SS International is the
most active group opposing whaling, and he and SS-I also like to present
themselves as non-violent and of never having hurt any person. They fight
with their mouths rather than anything else - with lies.

'Captain' Watson also makes use of strange information strategies - in an
SS-I bulletin, he advised to issue (press) releases containing incorrect
info as the first release would make it to the front pages, whereas a
later correction would appear as a small note on back pages.

'Captain' Watson, and SS-I, have employed racist rhetoric and lies against
the Makah, e.g. in claiming the Makah were about to sell whale meat to
Japan.

SS-I was present at Neah Bay in spring 1999 to protest against the
whaling. During these operations, an SS-I vessel in more than one incident
tried to run over the Makah boat - a wooden canoe!

Instead of running over the canoe, in one incident the vessel ran over an
whale injuring the animal so that it bled. Shall we see this as a
collateral damage? The SS vessel was then chained up for violating nature
protection laws.

And the day the hunt was successful, the SS-I vessel present and not
chained up could not leave port because the crew, headed by 'Captain'
Watson, got thoroughly sloshed the night before and thus were slightly
indisposed.

'Captain' Watson and SS-I have supported racist rhetoric against the
Makah, not only the whalers but all Makah not on *their* side. They
tolerated pickets during their actions which read: 'Save a whale, harpoon
a Makah'. 'Captain' Watson himself shouted at Makah: "Just because you
were born stupid, you don't have the right to stay stupid".

A person who took part in the actions at Neah Bay wrote a racist poem
about the Makah. When Watson was asked to comment, he came up with the
immortal excuse that he was no literature critic.

After having been criticized for racist rhetoric and actions, 'Captain'
Watson produced some more in an attempt to justify his comments: He
claimed he took part in Wounded Knee II in 1973 and said he was a medic
there. None! of the persons present remember him. Watson claimed he
assisted 'Doc' Rosen in giving medical aid to Rocky Madrid. 'Doc' Rosen
tells quite a different story. Watson claims he was made a member of the
Oglala Lakota - he wasn't. Watson claims that his passport was signed by
Pedro Bissonette as a proof he was made an Oglala - Bissonette died in
1973. Watson claims he took part in a sweat lodge during which he went on
a vision quest and received a Lakota name. No-one recalls a naming
ceremony for a white WK medic.

Watson further claimed that Ms Lisa Distefano (ex-Mrs Watson meanwhile)
had a grandmother who lived on a Cherokee rez in Louisiana. There are no
Cherokee reservations in Louisiana. He also claimed that crew member Mat
Lawson was Native American, whereas it is Lawson's father who is *partly*
of N.A. descent. Lawson did not know he was being used by Watson in this
way and apparently had a few words with him when he learned about it.

Watson also claimed that he had 'no drop of Anglo blood' and described
himself as a Micmac/. True, his complexion is quite red (due to frequent
consumption of fermented beverages), but apparently nobody told Watson
that a red complexion is no prerequisite for being considered N.A.

Watson defended making allies of Jack Metcalf and Slade Gorton in the
matter of opposition against Makah whaling, and SS-I call Metcalf a
'stellar leader'. Watson is also proud of cooperating with Brigitte Bardot
who is an eco-fascist with ties to fascist Front National in France, apart
from being married to an FN-member and -lawyer.

In 1998, SS-I took in a total of US$ 3,433,974. A lot of money to spend.
In fact, they only spent US$ 896,665. Although they are a non-profit
organisation, they made a profit of 2.6 million.

Watson does not so much uphold international laws but his own, and his
main activity is not out fighting but talking about how great they are and
how much they are doing and spreading other lies.
