I missed that the first time i looked at your post...

It is a damned good question. Does initiating the use of force 
against a non-sentient animal constitute violence? My gut reaction 
is no. If so, then I misspoke, and should have phrased that 
statement differently.

Perhaps: "Every time you eat meat, you have made a kill". Since I 
do hunt, I do not consider this re-statement to be negative.
