Date: Thu, 10 Jan 2002 04:18:23 Subject: Crucial Pacifica Meeting in NYC this weekend! Pacifica Campaign Release January 9, 2001 Pacifica National Board Meeting Jan 11-13, 2002 in NYC Please come to New York City this weekend for the new Pacifica National Board meeting! This will be a historic event, as the efforts of thousands to reclaim Pacifica nears fruition. We hope to turn this meeting into an educational opportunity and to win even more allies and support in the hard work ahead. We strongly urge those living in the New York tri-state area to make a serious effort to attend this critical meeting!!! In an encouraging departure from recent Board practices, the meeting will be held in a union hall rather than a corporate hotel. Hotel and Restaurant Workers Union 305 West 44th St., (Between 8th & 9th Ave.) Manhattan, NYC Nearest Subway is 42nd St. stop of A,C,E and/or 1,9,2,3 Friday, Jan. 11, 7:00pm-9:30pm Saturday, Jan. 12, 9:00am-5:00pm Sunday, Jan. 13, 9:30am-3:00pm Sadly, in keeping with the era of censorship and listener abuse at Pacifica, the holdouts of the Christmas Coup at WBAI are using the airwaves (that they still control) to engage in a campaign of race-baiting and misinformation to discredit the Pacifica/WBAI reform movement and incite a confrontation at the meeting. That's why we need you there! Please show your support for the New Pacifica. The Concerned Friends of WBAI and the Pacifica Campaign have been working to organize activist and listener participation and additional events to make this first meeting of the iPNB as productive, respectful, and engaging as possible. And housing is being arranged for out-of-towners. Please call the Pacifica Campaign at 646-230-9588 for more info.
