That's obvious. If you did, you probably wouldn't be
referring to carp as "this guy." Why don't you spend
some time in the archives, or just sit back and learn the
ropes, before you dig yourself a deeper hole.

No. An all-out assault would be a very different matter.

You seem to think that you can walk into any room and
determine what is called for. Wouldn't that be nice - but
that isn't the way things work, is it. For better or worse,
you've wandered into what is generally a tough room.
Many of us took our pratfalls on the way in. We lived.
Silly moralizing about how things should be won't change
the way this list has functioned for a long time. You'll
either find it works for you or it doesn't. Right now,
however, you're the one who doesn't understand what's
what.

A fine stand for someone who has engaged in stupid
pop psychology as a first line of defense. (check your
subject line and then every one of your posts since
this started. Folks who tell other folks *why* they
behave as they do always seem to like authoritarians
to me.

You haven't given us any better info on Palestine. What
is *obvious* is that carp has *some* idea about the
matter, since he has objected to specific elements of the
intifada. Apparently, you think it's the wrong idea. So
enlighten us, if you want to make an issue of it.

But you don't know the rest of us either...

No gods and no masters here, but you've walked into a
room with over ten years of history. This is not, as you
noticed, a list like post-colonial, where the talk is largely
academic. If you want to carry on about how things
should be without figuring out how things are, then the
"problem" is clearly yours.

The dumb mistake is old news. Cluelessness about your
surroundings is the ongoing problem.

gr3g, we'll blame who we choose, and you'll either
learn to live with our choices or not. All these
associations are strictly voluntary, so you have the
choice to take what's here or leave. Some of us like
it here a lot.

If you try to keep up with carp, he'll only stop when
you bore him. And i doubt you'll gain many points
elsewhere.

FWIW,
