Hey, I have no problem with folk taking holidays.
With my present unemployable/semi-retired stutus,
some folk probably think life is one long holiday
for me. However, Keri just started a heavy course
at Dundee university a few weeks ago, and already
she is talking about needing a holiday. She has suggested
a romantic weekend, just the two of us, in Paris. She
even says she is paying. Well, I have never been to Paris,
and I'm very glad that my wife still finds the idea of going
somewhere with me romantic.

Paris for two could be fun. Earlier this year, just the two
of us exploring a Californian redwood forest was fun.
Even being part of a larger grouping of folks can sometimes
be fun - for instance, up till a couple of months ago,
I was on an environmental science course which involved
our bunch of students (the youngest was 18, the oldest
was 86) exploring Scottish hills, glens, rivers, and beaches.
18 year old Lisa got quite emotional on the last day
of the course, and there were tears in her eyes when
she suddenly kissed me bye-be. Just a couple of days
ago, I got a letter from 86 year old Catherine. She sent
me a group photo of us all, taken on our last expedition,
and said how much she missed us all. She's right, that group
was fun. But, for me, watching loud and obnoxious race cars
is not fun. If other folk want to do it, well, best of luck to 'em.
But, personally, it's not for me. That was all I said, I didn't
criticise anybody else for _their_ idea of holiday fun.

So far as the Anarchist Day School in Glasgow
is concerned, personally, I don't have terribly
high hopes of it being a lot of fun. Now, before
Iain jumps in and says I'm being negative, I admit
that I could be wrong. Maybe it will turn out to be
a barrel of laughs. But the point that I'm making
is, I'm thinking of it more as something at which
some serious work (wirk!!!!???) might actually
get done, rather than as a sort of "holiday".
