While I agree with Chuck0's statement that the animal rights crusade seems a large part of the anarchist/leftist movement here in the e$tado$ unito$, I'm not sure he meant that he necessarily was in favor of the idea. I for one find putting animals on the same moral plane as wirkers a bit loopy. As erik notes, maybe it's a crusade for the bored. This doesn't mean I favor *cruelty* to animals, just that awarding them the anthropomorphic status of bearers of "rights" is a misplaced priority. True "rights" are only secured to those who can defend them. If a right can't be defended and is simply "awarded," then it can be revoked. If it can be revoked it isn't a "right." If we award "rights" to animals it is only in passing and not of any permanent nature. I did shoot a deer from inside my back door a couple of weeks ago. It was out in the septic field and I was concerned it would get stuck. So I'm eating it. carp carp
