Cells can't decide to form or dissolve an organism to suit best their own individual needs, but multiple individuals can. Society as an organism isn't a new analogy, but that doesn't make it any less lousy. That analogy is what lets those who choose to consider themselves the "brains" of society sacrifice individuals in the name of "the good of the whole". Just like an animal might chew it's own leg off when caught in a trap, Leaders can sacrifice those portions of society that hold them back from where they want to go. Society as an organism is anti-human, statist and more than a little bit psychotic. To the degree that people form social structures, those structures should exist for the benefit of the individuals involved and not vice-versa. Those structures should be created, modified and abolished to suit the needs and desires of the individuals who voluntarily comprise it. Of course "should be" isn't "are" thanks to the widespread belief in a bad analogy. Hence my hostility. cheers, scott > Well, i have just written all this but i think that it didn't go out, so i will mail it again. If you have already read this please skip this e-mail. What i was basically saying there, was that the society as the whole can be better compared to the was bacterium organizes itself (and not to the way the cells behave in a body). What happens is that when plaque is formed (on your teeth or in the see on the rocks) some bacteria gets on the inside of the plaque and just mantain it. That bacteria is a very scared ones, since they are much safer where they are, however, they breathe less and can't reproduce. The ones on the outside on the other hand produce more and more plaque and can always have access to oxigen and other tasty things, however, those ones can always be killed off by anti-biotics and other chamicals. Now i must worn everyone that this is just a comment and is not ment to be an argument. This is just a "better" way of looking at the things not "the" way.
