so what the hell is amerikan nationalism?  besides being bad, what
exactly does it consist of?  it really does perplex me to a great
extent -- european nationalism is a lot more concrete and stable.
concepts like 'german' or 'gaelic' have their roots in the linguistic,
cultural, and social variations across the continent.  the idea that
every language should have it's own political state is a quite
comfortable concept, even now.  and it explains why muslims and south
asians are like oil sitting on top of water all across europe, utterly
unassimilated.

but in amerika, there's hardly a dominant cultural influence any
longer.  california is the first 'minority-majority' state, where the
population of non-euros is greater than those of european ancestry,
but it's the direction we're moving.  we were once taught in school
that 'american political culture' was the glue that held it all
together.  funny thing when you really start to think about it.

personally, i think that amerikan kulture is whatever the hell the
telly sez it is.  this is fun, but i gotta go catch the Simpsons.
