They ain't having no revolution to lessen their standing as targets so 
they're fair game.

In seriousness I've been looking at a 1990 roadmap of the mideast.   Even 
tactically going north into Iraq is a bad idea. It's a lot different than 
the flat land of Kuwait.    There's a place where the road north is bounded 
on one side by a lake to the west and on the east side by the Tigris 
River.  It is in the outskirts of built up Bagdad and is 30 miles to the 
center of the city,   If I had a company of Iraqi Republican Guards I could 
hold that chokepoint for days.    f the US don't get Turkey that route 
north is the only one except for air drops and assaults and airdops and 
assaults in an armed  city are dicey (see Mogadishu).

I hope this thing is bloodless but I've got a bad feeling about this...
