dave, you are NOT my father, you are NOT my mother,
you are NOT my guardian, you are NOT my parole
officer. i don't tell you how to live your life. i
don't care one iota how you live your life, so don't
tell me how to live mine. your judgment of me is
irrelevant, uncalled for and you have no right to tell
me how to live my life.

if i don't live up to your anarchist ideal i don't
care. if i don't even measure on your anarchist scale,
i don't care. if you don't consider me an anarchist, i
don't care. to the best of my recollection i never
claimed to be one in the first place, though i
identify with a large amount of what has been said in
the literature and to a large extent on this list.

if i feel i can make a difference in some way on
someone i try. i have talked to many of my nationalist
friends about how the war in iraq is wrong and unjust.
i've opened them up to things they were unaware of.
i've done the same on the issue of palestine. i tell
you this not out of a need for attention or respect as
you obviously seem to thirst, but out of your idea
that i do NOTHING. i've done what i feel i can do and
that is all i can do. that is the only level on which
i feel i can make a difference which is to tell those
i know that these things are wrong. if i felt going to
rallies would make a difference, as i've said many a
time, i would go, but i've already presented my stance
on that issue, so you may as well drop it.

if this is not enough for you go preach to someone
else because i don't really give a rat's red ass what
you think of me, or how you feel about what you
perceive as my lack of doing.

i've already justified myself more to you than i
really cared to. so if you want to chastise me again,
save your strength and go find someone else. if you
think what little i've done is good, fine. whatever.
the fact of the matter is i really don't give a flying
fuck what you think.

"It is the leaders of the country who determine the policy and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship... Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy: all you have to do is tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the peacemakers for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country."

Nazi Reichsmarschall Hermann Goering, at the Nuremberg Trials
