Date: Sun, 6 Jul 2003 22:00:01 -0700 (PDT) From: Maldoror <insektus-AT-yahoo.com> Subject: Re: owned vs. free market you talk about 'fair' a lot joacim as though you know what 'fair' is and my arguments of being exploited, yep, i said it- exploited, as though i'm just whiney (which i may be), and you alone have the definition of fair. let me break down a situation for you and YOU tell me whose being exploited and treated unfairly- me or my boss. i work anywhere from 40 hrs (on a good week) to 70 or 75. i'm paid well below the average for a graphic designer. if you want to know go to salary.com (look at the lowest avg salary for a designer in nyc and subtract by about 40%.). i'm constantly interupted, expected to come in early before anyone sle gets there and many times leave well after the bosses and everyone else has gone home. it is a small privately owned ad company of about 25 employees. and not only do i design, but i'm the IT guy trying to fix everyone's computer problems becuase they're too damned lazy and incompetant to do it themselves. the boss has me do non-work related things for he and his kid and if i have to stay late to do it well, it's my job. i asked for a raise after 2 yrs but because the owner is drove the company into the ground it's in debt and he has no money to really give a raise so i was given 2 grand which raises my paycheck by about $25 every 2 weeks after taxes. we get no bonuses nor incentives. we used to have 2 artists but due to mismanagement by the owner the company had to downsize and i was the only artist left and had to do the work of basically 2 1/2 ppl. so let me see here, who's got the better deal joacim? the owner who's driven his so far down that everyone is overworked (because i'm not the only one who works overtime) and who makes over $1million per year or my self who is grossly underpaid. oh and by the way both the owner and the manager (who makes over twice what i make and who has espn.com on his screen everytime i go in his office) have voiced that they feel the ppl like myself should be working on avg 70-80 hrs per week. of course they fail to mention that empoyees get no overtime and are only paid for 40 hrs. what's fair here? granted i didn't pump the oil from the ground to make the plastics for the computer i use. no did i design the software i use? nor did i cut down the trees for the paper i use in my job. nor did i create the microships etc., etc. etc. so wait, i guess i'm not doing any work here am i? i'm just sitting on my ass aren't i? so joacim please enlighten me because it would seem from your exhorbitant number of posts that you have the answers here. awaiting your response, gr3g ====stand up and admit tomorrow's never coming -marilyn manson __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
