Subject: Re: owned vs. free market

you talk about 'fair' a lot joacim as though you know
what 'fair' is and my arguments of being exploited,
yep, i said it- exploited, as though i'm just whiney
(which i may be), and you alone have the definition of
fair. let me break down a situation for you and YOU
tell me whose being exploited and treated unfairly- me
or my boss.

i work anywhere from 40 hrs (on a good week) to 70 or
75. i'm paid well below the average for a graphic
designer. if you want to know go to salary.com (look
at the lowest avg salary for a designer in nyc and
subtract by about 40%.).

i'm constantly interupted, expected to come in early
before anyone sle gets there and many times leave well
after the bosses and everyone else has gone home. it
is a small privately owned ad company of about 25
employees.

and not only do i design, but i'm the IT guy trying to
fix everyone's computer problems becuase they're too
damned lazy and incompetant to do it themselves. the
boss has me do non-work related things for he and his
kid and if i have to stay late to do it well, it's my
job. i asked for a raise after 2 yrs but because the
owner is drove the company into the ground it's in
debt and he has no money to really give a raise so i
was given 2 grand which raises my paycheck by about
$25 every 2 weeks after taxes. we get no bonuses nor
incentives.

we used to have 2 artists but due to mismanagement by
the owner the company had to downsize and i was the
only artist left and had to do the work of basically 2
1/2 ppl.

so let me see here, who's got the better deal joacim?
the owner who's driven his so far down that everyone
is overworked (because i'm not the only one who works
overtime) and who makes over $1million per year or my
self who is grossly underpaid. oh and by the way both
the owner and the manager (who makes over twice what i
make and who has espn.com on his screen everytime i go
in his office) have voiced that they feel the ppl like
myself should be working on avg 70-80 hrs per week. of
course they fail to mention that empoyees get no
overtime and are only paid for 40 hrs.

what's fair here? granted i didn't pump the oil from
the ground to make the plastics for the computer i
use. no did i design the software i use? nor did i cut
down the trees for the paper i use in my job. nor did
i create the microships etc., etc. etc. so wait, i
guess i'm not doing any work here am i? i'm just
sitting on my ass aren't i?

so joacim please enlighten me because it would seem
from your exhorbitant number of posts that you have
the answers here.

awaiting your response,

gr3g
